cocoon recordings presents a freaked out deep techno highlight by two masters of their craft: gregor tresher & petar dundov! especially the a-side spike is a crazy monster and we do not exaggerate by writing that we have never heard something like this by these two masterminds before. mental, hypnotic and with a neverending synth firework that modulates with an endless release effect. the two really pushed electronic dance music at least ten steps further. tresher & dundov second mutual work on cocoon recordings follows with differentiator. the two stick to the basic concept of spike however this time it is the good old arpeggio that keeps on modulating until eternity. differentiator almost flows with a little trance appeal and there is even a cool and driving acid bassline giving us the final push. tresher & dundov present us two massive techno tunes that will definitely play in their own league this season!

10 years redshape live is a special thank you to the labels i mainly worked with in the past ten years and also to all the people on worlds dance floors, which gave me so many stellar moments. starting on running back, the best of live series will contain tracks which were only part of my live set: previously unavailable and not even arranged as full tracks. as i always record my shows, i searched for the moment, in which each of those tracks had their biggest and also earliest impact. i took that recording and rebuild them part by part to make them proper dj versions without loosing their live roots. named after the cities where they were performed. av aviv and rome.
SAFETY FIRST (JAMES DEXTER REMIX)

timmy ps latest outing on dessous recordings continues the long list of illustrious labels that have been home to his house vision. now based in london, timmy has a string of emphatic releases under his belt, not least on influential imprints such as local talk, extended play, dirt crew and madtech. with safety first, timmys playful approach to the deeper side of house shines though. the title track mixes crisp, crunchy drums with warm, soft pads and a bubbling bass line - a deep rolling cut with plenty of punch for the floor. the fantastically named grim fandango is a little tougher, with the snares and claps snapping tightly over a taut, un-resistible vibe. timmys balance of dynamics is masterful, each element perfectly complimenting each other to create a tour de force over 8 minutes. bosh is similarly crafted - the original echoing classic 90s house but feeling completely fresh for 2016, while james dexters remix is a robust, deep roller. this is house music made with joy and passion.

the organ grinder is no newcomer to the scene. with releases on labels such as 4lux, heist, and catapult, this veteran is ready to shake things up for the borg lads in the northern hemisphere.

“delicate din- strikes a deeper chord with the perfect contrast to the attention grabbing a-side, with the constantly evolving resonant bass and the irregular 4/4 groove.

first part of cygnus remixes is here. that big track produced by coyu and sezer uysal will have a second life with big revisits.
the first remix is signed by one of the biggest legends of the electronic scene: the mighty john digweed, together with his studio partner nick muir, did a proggy-tech trip with tons of epic vibes.
gabriel ananda has turned the original into a more electronic, sophisticated and special track.
last but not least, coyu did a dub edit from his original cut, focusing the leadership of the track in the bassline instead of the melodies. great names for an amazing package!

it s hard to believe an entire decade has gone by since claude vonstroke first released who s afraid of detroit but believe it or not, we ve reached the 10 year mark of one of the biggest hits of claude s career, and we felt its about time for some fresh takes on the track that helped launch vonstroke and dirtybird. for 10 year anniversary, we tapped into the motor city s outstanding talent pool and enlisted an amazing lineup of detroit artists to help us celebrate. besides claude vonstrokes brand new 2016 remix, we also included mixes from techno icones octave one, minimal techno pioneer marc houle (windsor is close enough!), and the accomplished trio visionquest. not limiting the detroit based artist package to just the music, the haunting release artwork comes to us from michigan illustrator dan may. in addition, a dark david lynch style music video comes from award winning detroit director, anthony ernest garth. whos afraid of detroit remixes, will be released on the 10th anniversary of the movement festival in what city? detroit, of course.

oddball space disco tracks compiled from library tracks composed between 1975 and 1978. big tip!! from the early 70s to the mid-80s, this self-taught musician composed about twenty albums of production and library music with generic cover art and titles (out of the way, magical ring, keys of the future, pulsations, more and more, etc.) that evoke interstellar travel. these experimental discs, made with love, humility and rudimentary means, had no ambition other than to accompany other peoples images. by exhuming these obscurities from the dustbin of history, born bad have decided otherwise. archaeologists with an agenda, they seek to give jean pierre decerf the renown he deserves: that of an innovator whose rhythmic, synthetic compositions inspired the harbingers of the french touch (air comes to mind), not to mention some east coast rappers.

owl is a non-profit unofficial label releasing bootlegs, unauthorized re-edit and everything is not licensable for any reason, run by an indefinite art collective growing every day more around the world.
born in sao paulo to a deeply religious family, laercio has been around music all his life - amidst the challenges of daily life, his adventist parents would whip out all sorts of instruments whenever the situation would allow it, introducing a young and curious mind to a wide range of musical expressions. it should come as no surprise, then, that our hero quickly felt at home with notes and bars, choosing the flute as his first weapon of choice which he eagerly studied from the age of seven. even later non-musical career choices always reflected an infatuation with the world of sounds, like his stint as a capoeira teacher, combining martial arts, acrobatics and dance. with such a multi-faceted background in music, the inevitable tinkering with synthesizers and other means of electronic sound generation was rather a question of time than one of ambition, and sure enough we find laercio roaming the parties of the mid-noughties, absorbing the unique melange of styles and scales that inform club culture to this day. in stark contrast to most other rave inductees at the time, however, he never wanted to become a dj: his area of expertise is the performance, not the collecting and curating of other people s releases, and it shows in the unusual fact that laercio has held club residencies as a live electronic musician in venues like sao paulo s the edge without ever so much as touching a record. in these release l_cio has worked with d.o.c. mastermind gui boratto. and the result is music for the dancefloor.

THE FINAL THEORY
12 Inch
28.07.16
the excellent field label embarks on a new mini trilogy of eps that will -present a magical journey through modern-day trance.- first up in the series is artefakt with their three track effort the final theory. dutch producers robin koek and nick lapien make up artefakt, and between them they excel at moody voodoo music on labels like delsin. they open this latest ep with the title track, a deep, spacious house roller with subtle pads and gentle acid that perform slow motion acrobatics for nearly ten minutes. it is suspensory, dreamy music that works on the head as well as the heel. moving horizon is then less doleful and introspective but just as deep, with sweeping pads add a sense of scale, busy drums bring the dynamism and icy percussive sounds adding a sense of urgency. last but not least, solaris is a fatter, more physical groove with claps and gloopy bass, acid flashes and trancey pads all fleshing out a lush and deep electro workout. this is heavenly stuff that cannot fail to get inside your head and heart.
OF ZENTRUM (REMIXES)
12 Inch
27.07.16
the second of two zentrum spinoffs is with us! as with the first, it comes loaded with four remixes. octo octa, vito & druzzi, cooper saver and turbotito, and lemonade all handed in top-notch reimaginings of tracks off jacques renault s debut lp, which came out just under a year ago, and they all somehow manage to be unique unto themselves while also sublimely bleeding into one another. octo octas rendering of mi casa samba serves as a propulsive beginning thats as dark and druggy as it is sharp and focused. vito & druzzis take on faith runs in a similar vein, but in a more stripped-back, drawn-out, and patient sort of way, it is nearly ten minutes long, so this is perhaps not a surprise. the b s remixes are brighter, sunnier, though that s not to say they re not bold. cooper saver and turbotito s redo of words has a certain funky swing to it that, paired with spacey synths and balearic bells and whistles, makes it ideal daytime disco fodder. the lemonade boys close the ep with their vibey take on faith. pads for days, a plump bass, and a focus on the original s sax make you wonder if the song itself somehow got stoned from a couple extra giant bong rips. a fitting way to end both the 12inch and the summer.

this is volume two of a two volume set from edit master gay marvine justly called dance floor favorites. these are some of his most sought after unreleased edits that are known for their strong reaction on the dance floor. they cause an instant heat. his perversity shines through the extreme tempo shift of “jungle fever” lifting it up into pure ecstatic dance floor action, with all the eroticism of “french kiss” and all the spanish funk groove of barrabas. we could to listen to the hypnotic “goodnight” for hours on end, finally seeing light on vinyl. gay marvine’s “what’s happening bro” is not an edit per se, it’s what happens when you cross that line and it becomes house. this is perhaps his greatest tribute to moodymann and his sets at better days, hotbox and la dolce vita. the ep ends with the ever dirty “bump man” and gay marvine’s unique feverish take the needy anthem. gay marvine might just be the frankie knuckles of edits, because his music will keep you warm in the cold, a true musical heater.

following up on his exceptional 12″,,,, debut numb (figure 73) earlier this year, seatoc mass delivers another ep of finely tuned and highly diversified techno deep space explorations. starting on an atmospheric note, cipher’s intricate melody winchingly twists its way under your skin while airy breakbeats faintly hint at the producer’s uk roots. in contrasting fashion the bleep- driven lost lakes sticks to its metronomic stomp, making for a simple yet utterly effective tool. choral howls and detuned synths merge on transform for a gentle yet trance-inducing introduction to the flipside. emotive highlight rain then sees the manchester producer sonically recreate a thundering storm, complete with flashing strokes of lightning and a downpour of celestial scale. the breakbeat returns on closer flying buttress, albeit now at much faster tempo, exploring the common ground between futuristic grime and techno. blending all these different styles and their distinctive tropes in a coherent statement is a feat not easily accomplished. yet here seatoc mass pulls it off again, developing further the confines of both his personal and the label’s sound.

COBRA EFFECT EP

18.07.16
firstly, a huge thanks to everyone for supporting us so far - 2016 has seen the dext label continuing to go from strength to strength, with our callahan and mella dee ep s backed with remixes from hodge and endian which have been been super well received. now for the third ep of the year from our resident comedian bodyjack. bodyjack has been an integral part of dext since he remixed dubspeeka on our 2nd release and headlined our label takeover of privilege in ibiza last summer. we are very excited about his return to the label with this 3-tracker (and our first full solo artist ep!), and we think you re going to dig this... the title track cobra effect is one of those tracks you aren t going forget in a hurry. intense and brooding, we are hard-pushed to categorise this, but layers of sinister bass coupled with dark, driving snares and eerie synth work culminate masterfully, making this the perfect dext track. hydra effect lifts the vibe with a straight up peak-time house jam with a sting in the tail. a raw-but-infectious bassline winds along under bodyjack s signature killer drum programming, before blasting off with something you aren t going to expect. rounding the ep off is slowine effect: a proper dancehall workout (reminiscent of bodyjack s earlier work) and a real cross-genre party starter. the most upbeat of the 3 tracks, this again takes all the elements of what we love about the music from the past and cleverly works them into something special for the rave. and that s not all for bodyjack on dext this year - he will be back with a one-off ltd record called -hot shot-, backed with a very special remixer...but more on that soon!

ltd summer 2016 deal.. its a really clever go lucky move that the never resting glückskind founders michael klang and jürgen kirsch got samuel knob on board. the valencia-based producer really knows how twist those knobs to come up with the craziest noises. his skills, honed during his residency times at barraca music and narita club, are perfectly put into use with this crafty release that should have people dancing on the roof tops--naked. samuel, a drummer who jumpstarted his musical career at the age of sixteen in a pop-rock band, is exploring the outer realms of percussive beats, incorporated in a tight yet not at all minimal sounding house construct. inspired by his father who is also a drummer and programmer, he does not hesitate to foray into unknown dimensions, making this eleventh glückskind release a very special piece of black gold

LOST IN GODS COUNTRY

alex suarez is part of a new breed of producers based out of brooklyn carving out their own unique sound experimenting in the world of raw primordial electronics. under the name cienfuegos, he has prior releases on brooklyn s primitive languages imprint as well as the france s unknown precept label-with his new -lost in god s country- ep we see him debut on the new york centered bank records. through the four tracks cienfuegos harkens back to the time of early industrial music, not far off from the early transmissions of spk or even hinting at sounds akin to e.g. oblique graph. suarez has a knack for developing textures and tension in his music sewing it all together with plodding rhythms and the occasional creeper vocal. heavyweight stuff coming most highly recommended.
after the sensation caused by his last release, elchinsoul comes back strong with another battle cry into the darkness on cellaa music. in his usual nonchalant style, you can expect deep driving arrangements. through the precisely applied sub-basses and the unobtrusive synth pads, a first class sound-performance is guaranteed. made to fill dark basements, clubs and also festivals with sound. the ep contains 4 tracks and includes a masterpiece of a remix by sven jaeger, and a special vinyl only track, which will not be availeable digitally. if you have listened to the full ep, there only will be 4 words to describe it: this is dope shit!

we have become big fans of paul ursin at the noir music headquarter as he just keeps creating fantastic music from his studio in sicily. he gained lots of heavyweight dj support from his ep on nm2 in may and we expect him to take you by storm with this (his first) release on noir music. if mr. ursin is not already on your radar let this “sinthesis vol.1” convince you. no more words ... let the music speak for itself.
